Find a route to a real conversation
Suppose the search results all look alike. Where can you start without picking by the loudest ad?
A referral, a search for a kind of care, and a licence check answer different questions. Use them together.
- Ask your usual doctor
- Search by care type
- Check the person’s licence
Start with someone who knows your care
If you already see a clinician, such as your doctor, ask whether they discuss tirzepatide care or can suggest someone to contact. Say what you hope care will help with.
A referral means someone suggests a health professional you can contact. Keep the same questions about the visit, fees, and follow-up.
Search for the kind of visit you want
For a visit in a room, try a search for local weight-management or diabetes care, as fits your question. For care from home, search for telehealth, which can use video calls, phone calls, or written messages online.
Before booking, check that the service can treat you in the place you will join the appointment.
At the September 26, 2026 check, a telehealth doctor needed permission to practise from the state in which the patient attended the visit.
State rules also decided how an online first visit could work, as checked on September 26, 2026.
Check the person, then the pharmacy
Doctors receive their licences from state medical boards. You can search a board’s records to check a doctor’s licence. The record can also show punishments by the board or formal charges it has brought.
Ask for the person’s full name, job title, and licence details. Match the name and state in the board record. If the record lists a punishment or formal charge, read what happened. Ask the board to explain anything you cannot follow.
Even when no punishment appears in the record, the quality of that doctor’s care remains a separate question.
For a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, ask which board holds that person’s licence record. These are other kinds of health professionals. State rules decide what they can prescribe, as checked on September 26, 2026.
Ask which pharmacy would send the medicine. Pharmacy licences have their own state-board records.
Official places to begin a check
Find your state’s medical board
Start with the board links collected by the Federation of State Medical Boards. Each doctor’s licensing board keeps the record itself.
Find a pharmacy licence search
The FDA, the US drug agency, links to state pharmacy searches. A licence check does not settle whether a particular medicine is suitable.
